Supabase Raises $500M at $10.5B Valuation as Claude Code Becomes Its Biggest Database Creator
Supabase closed a $500 million Series F led by GIC at a $10.5 billion valuation this week, driven by a 600% year-over-year surge in database creation. Claude Code is now the single largest contributor of new Supabase databases.
Supabase closed a $500 million Series F this week at a $10.5 billion valuation, making it one of the most valuable developer infrastructure companies in the world. The round was led by GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, with Stripe, Salesforce Ventures, Accel, Y Combinator, Coatue, and Felicis also participating.
The valuation roughly doubles where the company stood after its October 2025 Series E — a gap of less than 8 months. The driver: AI coding tools are creating databases at a pace nobody predicted. Supabase saw a 600% year-over-year increase in the number of databases created on its platform.
The most striking datapoint: Claude Code is now the single largest contributor of new databases on Supabase. Not second. First. Developers using AI coding assistants to scaffold applications are defaulting to Supabase as the backend, and that demand is compounding. With over 250,000 customers and more than $1 billion in total capital raised, Supabase is no longer a scrappy Firebase alternative — it’s the default open-source backend for the AI development era.
What Supabase offers that competitors don’t is a single platform combining managed Postgres with authentication, object storage, realtime subscriptions, and edge functions. Developers building AI-generated applications don’t want to stitch together five services; they want one that works out of the box and scales. Supabase has positioned itself precisely for that workflow.
The GIC-led round is also a signal. Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund typically bets on long-term infrastructure plays — the kind that stick around for decades. Their lead position here suggests they view developer infrastructure for AI applications as a durable category, not a trend.
Supabase CEO Paul Copplestone described the funding as fuel for product investment, not survival capital. The company is profitable on a unit-economics basis, which gives it timeline flexibility. Expected priorities: more edge function capabilities, enhanced vector search for AI applications, and expanded enterprise support.
Total capital raised now exceeds $1 billion. The $10.5 billion figure also positions Supabase meaningfully above competitors like PlanetScale and Neon in terms of market signal, even if those products target overlapping use cases.
For developers: if you’re not already using Supabase, the 600% growth figure tells you something real about where the ecosystem is moving. Claude Code defaulting to it is as strong an endorsement as this category has ever received.
